Q

Can I use Lynda.com on my laptop?

I want to use Lynda through my OPL account. Can I only do that on an OPL computer, or can I use my laptop while on the OPL wifi? (I ask this because I want to watch programming videos and it is helpful to "code-along" with the videos on my computer.)

Thanks for asking. Actually, I've got great news for you! We've been able to expand our subscription to Lynda to include remote access - so anywhere you have internet access, you can go through our website at omahalibrary.org, find Lynda in our Resource Center, and use your library card # and 4-digit PIN to put our subscription to use and code away. I'll also include what should be a direct link to the login prompt, though if it doesn't work the path through the website certainly will.

You can absolutely access Lynda on your laptop on OPL wifi as well, at any of our twelve locations! IP recognition from the wireless should allow you to skip the login step.

Thanks for using Lynda.com and Omaha Public Library! Please feel free to email back or give a call to 402-444-4800 if you have any trouble getting in through our subscription.
