Thanks for asking! Let me start by encouraging you to bring your tablet by any of our 12 library locations. When setup's not going as expected it often works better to troubleshoot these things out in person, and if our staff can help you through the process the first time through life generally gets easier after that.

Now, I'm assuming that your Toshiba tablet is one of their Android-based ones, like the Excite or Encore? If so, the apps you'll use to access our ebook collections should be available in Google Play, and they should install like any other app. I'll throw in direct links to the Overdrive (more content, probably the one most users start with) and 3M apps to save time searching for them in Google Play.

This article and these videos will walk you through the setup process for the app.

You mentioned that your trouble is starting with trying to install the app. Are you getting a particular error message? It looks like some Android devices will throw up blocks when you go to install an app without going through Google Play - so if you were using one of the direct links from our website or the Overdrive website (a perfectly reasonable thing to do) your device might balk. If that's the case, take a look at this troubleshooting article for a possible solution.

At any rate, feel free to email back or call 402-444-4800 with further questions, and don't hesitate to bring your device in for help. Hope one of the options above covers this particular issue, though!
