I cannot place a hold on James Michener The Source. The "Denied requestability" comes up.

Thanks for asking! The last copies of 'The Source' owned by Omaha Public Library have been removed from circulation, likely due to age, damage, or wear. The remaining copy that you see in the catalog is owned by the Ralston Baright Library. Ralston borrows space in our catalog - a library of their size might otherwise struggle to afford library management software - but we don't share materials. So the error and the prompt pop up because there were no copies that you, as an Omaha Public Library member, have access to. Sorry for the confusion! It's an unfortunate consequence of an otherwise good-neighborly arrangement.

Speaking of good neighbors, Douglas County residents are also eligible to become members of the Ralston Baright Library, so if you're particularly interested in the Michener title you could visit them at 5555 S 77th Street (it's a lovely library), create an account with them, and borrow the book for free. If that's a bit too much folderol, we could also seek out The Source for you through inter-library loan and have the book delivered to your neighborhood library for the cost of return postage.

Please feel free to email back or call 402-444-4800 with additional questions!
